Pralay (~150-500 km range; 500-1000 kg payload) is expected to be a replacement for Prithvi (different blocks Prithvi I, II, III with different range/CEP). Solid fuel, canisterized missile means it should be easier to maintain than the liquid fueled Prithvi from an earlier generation. Both Indian Army and Indian Air Force are expected to be users.

Prithvi is also under the strategic forces command and can be equipped with conventional or nuclear warheads  while Pralay is conventional only (under the integrated rocket force) and thus will lend itself to use with fewer escalatory concerns.

Isn't this just the [BrahMos II](https://capsindia.org/indias-hypersonic-ambitions-tracking-the-progress/)? If so then it's an indigenous variant of [3M22 Tsirkon](https://www.firstpost.com/world/india-to-get-deadly-zircon-missile-technology-from-russia-may-develop-brahmos-ii-12411612.html). In which case, it's probably reasonable to extrapolate the this missile's capabilities from the 3M22's performance in Ukraine.

It’s a power play by China.

If the industries migrate to SEAT region - Vietnam, Thailand, China can control that. These are vassal states for all practical purposes.

If manufacturing goes to India, it’s a long term and likely permanent loss to China.

So China is using Pakistan, which it practically owns, to destabilise India and send a message to the world that India is not safe for setting up manufacturing plans.

Nothing of this sort would have happened had Trump not put pressure on China.

This isn't just about power play it was boud to happen  . Before you guys put your conspiracy theory hats on let me take you in on a very real incident that happened in the Kashmir valley much earlier than the said terrorist attack that killed 28 hindus. There was mass exodus an ethnic cleansing of around 200000 Kashmiri pandits where they were forced to leave their homes overnight and were rendered homeless thousands were killed in the most brutal manner so brutal that my hand would shiver typing the gory details of this inhumanity. This was all under the pretext of being hindus in a muslim majority state. Years after this Kashmir a generally unstable region due to terrorist threat domination region was finally opening up to tourism and there are a lot of religious shrines there and it's a breathtakingly beautiful region so people slowly started paying visits to Kashmir bolstering tourism which such groups do not want because terrorism is their bread and butter . Now in the recent attack on what region is called to be the Switzerland of India there was a terrorist attack focused on hindus where people were asked if they were hindus before they were shot point blank  so much so that a hindu guy from Nepal was also shot before someone could even ask his nationality. Some people from the terrorist group have also been identified to be from pakistan hence the retaliation. Pakistan is a country which India has tried hard to be cordial with despite past differences but they do not budge. The people killed were innocent people some which were newly married couples , elderly people visiting with family just  shot dead . While I understand that all Pakistanis can never be bad people but unfortunately terrorist groups function in such a way that they thrive and live through terrorism which Pakistan seems to never acknowledge. The country as a whole is not a problem but them not being able to address their own problems of being home to a lot of insurgent groups seems to be the problem unless as a country they actually introspect and act on such groups retaliation insurgency are bound to happen. India is pissed off basically because while India is trying hard to prosper develop and move forward while being secular as India is home to a large group of muslim as well as other communities the other side simply doesn't seem to want to introspect and only play the blame game. India does not want to be at war they want peace that i can assure you and so do majority of the Pakistani people but you have to remove the tumour out and that tumour is terrorism no matter how much it benefits you. 
Ps- the groups attacked were terrorist camps specifically the civilians killed were collateral damage which is a sad but unfortunate truth about such insurgent scenarios which I don't think anyone is rejoicing about.

Indian PM (who is a Hindu hardliner and a close ally of Israel) perhaps feels that now is a good time to attack Pakistan because its military stocks have been depleted from armament shipments to Ukraine for the past two years. People were Pro modi even before the strikes and the country was united. India has no unrest or economic problems, few days back they signed deal with saudis for a refinery and China's BYD is conversation to setup a factory and transfer tech. The BJP has won 3 out of the 4 state elections in the past year. 

This is a simple reply to the terrorist attack.
